Hello, First day with the 01v96i. Enjoying it mostly. Except: When I run setup on the USB-MIDI driver I get an error 25001 asking me to connect the device and try again. The device is connected. The Steinberg USB driver installed correctly and I get audio through the USB. But, Studio Manager won't connect until I get USB-MIDI driver working. Searching the internet I see a few people with this problem but no solutions listed. Tried various settings in the DIO Midi to Host setup including USB and MIDI options on Rx Tx and Studio Mgr setup. Thanks in advance for help. Dennis K

Hello rlightstone. Thanks for the reply. I meant the setup.exe that is the installer. I have the latest from the web site. However when I install I get the 25001 device not connected error. Though the 01v96i IS connected via USB. So I wonder if there is some setup on the 01V required. I did set the DIO screen Studio Manager setting to USB and everything else too. I did get Studio Manager to work thru MIDI but not USB. Dennis

You are possibly still missing the Yamaha USB - MIDI driver? Are you on a PC or Mac? Please describe your settings for Studio Manager in your DIO on the Yamaha.

Sorry I haven't been precise enough.... During the installation of Yamaha USB-MIDI driver on 3 computers so far: 1 Win XP 32 bit using the 32 bit installer, 2 Win7 64 bit using the 64 bit installer - with the 01v96i attached to the computer directly from the 01v to the USB port on the computer and with the DIO setting of Studio Manager set to USB 1,1 I get the following message from the installer program (setup.exe):
Error 25001. No device is connected. Connect a device, and try again. If the "Found New Hardware" wizard appears, Push the "Cancel" button.
All the USB-MIDI drivers were freshly downloaded from yamahaproaudio.com
I have tried other settings on the DIO screen such as USB 1,2 for the Studio Manager. The 01v will not let me set both the General and the Studio Manager in DIO to USB. I can set one to MIDI and the other to USB and I have tried all combinations I can think of.
So, what I am asking is what are your settings? Thanks. Dennis

As you know, Studio Manager is a stand alone program on your PC only and you first need to install all the correct drivers to complete the Studio Manager installation. You should not have the Yamaha connected via USB at this time. Then once Studio Manager is installed, you can connect your 01V96i to your computer and open Studio Manager (if it is not already running).
In Studio Manager you have to setup the Device Manager (SM2, Preferences, Modify Workspace). You should see the 01V96i in the "Add Device" box and the same in the "Workspace" Box. In the next selection "MIDI Settings" you should see all the MIDI I/O Ports for your 01V.
In the 01V96i GUI, go to FILE, System Setup. "Input Port" and "Output Port", you can now select the USB Port you selected in the DIO/SETUP screen on the Yamaha. So in your first example USB Port 1, Console Device ID 1.
Now you can go to the "Synchronization" menu and select "Re-Synchronize". Choose "Console to PC", so you do not accidentally over write your settings on your Yamaha. You'll now see a window showing the synchronizing progress bar. If you get this far - success! You will immediately see that the Console and Studio Manager are communicating. Studio Manager will show the same fader positions you have on your console. Dragging a fader up on your computer will do the same on the Console - and vice versa.
So now any changes made in Studio Manager will be mirrored exactly on the Yamaha. I use of SM as a back up to my saved settings on the console. I also use it when I have to work with another person's Yamaha 01V, 02R, DM1000 etc. I open their setup file and can view there routing offline before I am sitting at their console.
Good luck and hope I've helped you resolve your problem.
Richard

Thanks Richard. I can get Studio Manager to work via MIDI through my Layla's MIDI ports but not via USB because the driver won't install. Much searching of the internet finds a number of people get the 25001 error that do not have 01v but other Yamaha MIDI instruments. No one has posted a solution that I can find. I will keep looking and asking... Thanks again. Dennis

Finally solved my problem in that I don't NEED the USB-MIDI driver. Controlling the 01v96i with Studio Manager and the editor via USB - the USB/MIDI ports are provided by the 01v96i USB device driver. Got the clue by reading the Quick Start manual here: download.yamaha.com/api/asset/file/?language=en&site=ae.yamaha.com&asset_id=55566Page 27. Other places I read said the USB-MIDI driver was the first thing to install. Not true in my case. Thanks to those that replied. Dennis
