hello,
i've recently come back to yamaha mixing, this time with the o1v96i... i forgot how much i love these mixers! i have everything set up to multitrack record, have the awesome internal effects set up for aux 1-4, and everything is going swimmingly for the most part. glad to be back on this forum again.
i'm a bit stumped on one bit. i have a bass synth running into an outboard compressor, and then plugged into one of the mono inputs on the mixer. i also have two kick drums into separate mono inputs, which i would like to also route to one of the omni outputs to sidechain the bassline. i feel like i am almost there, but not quite. i am wondering if the configuration of my aux busses is interrupting what i want to do.
currently, each aux sends 1-4 are mapped to an internal effect.
i have omni out 1 plugged into the sidechain input on the compressor, so the physical connection is there.
where i am struggling is how to additionally route the kick drum to omni out 1.
what i would like to do is use say, aux 5 as the send and bus it to omni out 1. i don't have the mixer in front of me, so my reference point is a bit limited now... can anyone school me on the basic procedure to getting this done? the manual is somewhat confusing in this regard, but i'm guessing it shouldn't be. i'm just not that good at routing with this thing yet.
cheers!!

well, i tried another route, using a gate on the bass synth channel with the "ducking" preset, using the kick drum channel as the source. no dice there either.
does anyone know the best route to do this? could i route one of the kick drum channels to a bus out, then route that bus to the omni out? i feel like this must be something simple to accomplish and i am just missing a step.
