Does anyone connect their 01V to a 788 T with a multi-pin AES cable? How well does it work? Any Issues??
TIA

Peter, You can use the MY8-AE96 card, which will give you AES/EBU I/O 8 x 8 in the Yamaha. You can have a custom interface cable made; D-sub 25 pin (Yamaha) to DE-15 connector on the rear of the 788T. This AES input connector is described by SD as: "Multi-Function DE-15 Connector Mates with Sound Devices XL-88 Multi- Pin Breakout Cable. The DE-15 connector acts as AES3 Inputs 1-8, AES3 Outputs 5-6, and Logic In and Out. Analog and digital inputs can be used simultaneously. See Connector Pin Assignments. Sample Rate Converters are enabled on each AES input when Setup Menu REC: SYNC SOURCE is set to Internal."

Both Richard and I have our rigs with the DEVA, and had our custom interface cables assembled by Trew Audio. They've got the pin out handy and could probably assemble yours in the same fashion. No regrets on this purchase. It's clean and well made.

If you have it made, make sure you have the returns from the recorder built in/attached as well. I've come across a couple of folks who had cables made for them that didn't have the returns attached which forces them to use a BNC or some other way to get the 01V to clock from the 788/Deva. It also allows for an AES return to the 01V which can be nice for monitoring as well.
I built mine but it's not for the faint of heart.
