I'm installing the RolLogic system as my remote roll and slate/PL mic source. I think Walt is doing this as well. Anyone else? Planning on using the external mic of my Senn HD-25 headset. I had a custom cable made with a cap that defeats the low voltage mic power introduced by the system. You can modify the circuit board to do this, but that's a much more permanent option than making the custom cable. I've use the RolLogic main unit to roll my DEVA and Sound Devices machines for some time now, controlled by my Cooper 208D. It has worked quite well. It also has a nice function that mutes external speakers when going into record. rollogic.com/

I've used a Rollogic remote roll with an external mic since I've had my 01v.
The microphone plugs into A/D 12, and A/D 12 goes to channels 12 and 13. Channel 12 only goes to aux 5 (private ifb) and channel 13 only goes to aux 6 (public ifb)
Using a tip-ring-sleeve 1/4" connector, I tied tip and ring together, then built a bridging pad into the sleeve and the tip-ring. This went into the insert jack of channel 12. By tying the tip and sleeve together, it didn't interrupt the signal flow into channel 12, and the bridging pad steals the signal and knocks it down to mic level that goes to the mini-plug external mic input in the Rollogic roll/slate box.
The slate output from the Rollogic central box is fed into A/D 13 (I'm already using channel 13 with A/D 12 anyway) and is routed to stereo input 1, which I send to all recording busses and ifb feeds.

I picked up a RolLogic and it is still in its box. But that's ok 'cause the mixer is still at my desk.
One step at a time!

I only wished the RolLogic had a dual slate switch and dual audio outputs. It would take up two inputs on the desk, but would allow for a master slate and a PL all in one package. I keep hoping someone will make an outboard piece of equipment like this for our purposes.
I like the way Eric has his rigged up, takes up 2 inputs but accomplishes a dual task as well. Perhaps it's just me, but I've been so used to having an integrated COM section for so long that it will take some getting used to using the sliders for communication and slating.

I don't use the faders at all for coms, just the input strip's on/off button... So very much like a regular "slate button", except that it is latching.

I was going to send my Sennheiser boomset mic directly to the Ext. Mic input on the RolLogic remote, but I am less than impressed with the output level of the Slate Amplifier. I know you can get inside the box and bump up the level, but only 10db as far as I can see from the docs. How much do you pad the feed from your AD12 insert feed? Did you remove the resistor in the remote to defeat the 5v power or did you put a cap in the line to shunt it? Thanks Eric.

Use a single AD input and assign it to 2 channels. One for the PL aux and another channel for the Slate and or village aux. I take up 3 channels using 1 AD input. Duplicating your AD inputs also allows you to have more direct outs as well to send to other recorders etc on say layer 17-32.
