Just a heads-up for those who use a Dante card in the 01v96. Yamaha have just released a software controller for head amp settings in their Rio range of dante 'stageboxes'. These are intended to go with the newer CL series mixers, and 01v96 users didn't previously have a way of accessing the head amp settings (gain, HPF, Phantom) on them. It gives an interesting alternative to the Focusrite Rednet interfaces for those wanting to set up remote mic pres or an on-set receiver rack etc. . The baby one, Ri8 - 8 inputs in 1 RU is quite a bit cheaper than the equivalent Rednet unit, has mic/line level inputs, and has two Dante ports where the Rednet has one. Software is Win 7/8 only at the moment, but they do often come out with a mac version so here's hoping... nick

An update, now I have the system up and running...
The R-Remote software runs just fine on a Windows 7 virtual machine using Parallels on my Macbook Pro. It can run in Parallels 'coherence mode', and just appears as a floating app window on the mac desktop, allowing you to run Dante Controller and Boom Recorder or whatever on OSX. It has no problem accessing the same ethernet port (but Parallels must be set to Network Bridge mode, not Share mode as a layman like me might have expected). On any important gig, that laptop would be the backup recorder, so I'm not too worried about it coexisting with Dante Virtual Soundcard. Two Ri8's give me 32 analog channels total into the little 01v96 - 16 of which can be at the other end of long Cat-5e runs, and allow me to record all 32 on two computers simultaneously (via a small network switch I have mounted in a baby pelican case). The Ri8s have a dip-switch selectable 'resume' mode in which they remember their head amp settings between power-ups. Looking rather promising. Only issue so far is the fan noise on the Ri8 - they would have to be hidden around the corner from the recording space.
